You can configure the following event notification methods: • E-mail notification. Sends events to e-mail addresses. The group attempts to combine multiple events into a single e-mail message to reduce the number of sent messages. A message will be delayed three minutes at most. • E-Mail Home. Sends events to EqualLogic Customer Support and a local e-mail address. E-Mail Home enables EqualLogic to rapidly respond to issues and assist customers. If a hardware component (disk, control module, fan, or power supply) fails or if firmware on an array is updated, the group automatically sends e-mail to EqualLogic Customer Support and a local e-mail address you specify. E-Mail Home is available to all PS Series customers, but response time and assistance depends on the validity and level of your support contract. To configure e-mail and E-Mail Home event notification, follow these steps: 1. Click Group Configuration > Notifications tab. The Group Notifications window appears. 2. In the E-Mail Event Notifications panel, select Send E-mail to addresses and click Add. In the Add List Item dialog box, specify an e-mail address and click OK. You can specify up to five addresses. All will receive events. For E-Mail Home, select Send e-mail alerts to Customer support (E-Mail Home). And, in the Local contact e-mail field, specify the e-mail address that will receive E-Mail Home notifications (in addition to EqualLogic Customer Support). This is required. 3. Under Event priorities, select the event priorities for which you want to be notified. These priorities will apply to all the specified e-mail addresses. 4. Specify one to three SMTP servers or e-mail relays to handle e-mail forwarding. Under E-Mail Configuration Settings, click Add. In the Add List Item dialog box, specify an e-mail address and click OK. Use the ip_address:port format to specify a port number if you are using a port other than the default, 25. To modify or delete an IP address, select the address and click Modify or Delete, as desired. 5. To ensure that the e-mail recipient does not discard or reject the notifications, under E-Mail Configuration Settings, in the Sender in e-mail address field, specify the e-mail address that will appear in the “From” field in the notification e-mail. For E-Mail Home, when first enabled, you will receive a confirmation message stating that the functionality is enabled. If you do not receive this message, check the configuration to ensure that the local e-mail address is correctly configured. Also, check the PS Series event log. If the configuration is correct and no errors are logged, contact your support provider. To test the e-mail notification, you can log out of the GUI and then log in again. Each configured e-mail address should receive the message. The email to use for EMEA customers is: emea_eql_pes@dell.com
